QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

How do I enroll in the playgroup?
Contact the enrolment officer on 0402 037 726 or via Email In the event that all sessions are full, your name will be added to the waiting list. Enrolments are also taken at the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting, held in November of each year. Current members are given first preference to re-enrol for the following year.
How long is the waiting list?
The waiting list varies all the time, and we cannot give an estimate on how long the wait will be. When filling a place from the waiting list, factors such as the family’s availability for the day of the session, and the age of their child/ren are taken into account before offering a place.
How much does Playgroup cost?
Fees are set at $37 per term per family. An annual insurance charge of $25 is payable. If insurance has been paid at another Playgroup Victoria playgroup for the current year, no insurance charge will apply.
When do I have to pay my fees?
Fees for current members for the following term are due two weeks before the end of the term, ie Term 2 fees will be due 2 weeks before the end of Term 1. New members are given two trial sessions before their fees will be due.
How do I pay my fees?
Fees can be paid into the cash box in the storeroom at playgroup. Alternatively they can be paid directly into the Playgroup bank account or by mail. Contact the Treasurer for further details.
Am I required to stay with my child/ren at Playgroup?
YES!! Playgroup is a group experience where pre-school children and their parents meet together.
How does Playgroup run?
Point Cook Playgroup is run by a committee of volunteer parents who are elected each year at the AGM. Each playgroup session is run by a Group Leader and Assistant Group Leader who are parents of children attending that particular session. All parents are expected to assist the Group Leader with the running of the session to ensure the success of the group. A craft activity is provided each week for the children. Inside and outside toys and play areas are also available.
What do I have to bring to Playgroup?
When attending Playgroup, pack snacks and drinks for your child/ren. Changes of clothing and nappies are also advised. Please bring a hat for outdoor play. Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided for the parents. Sunscreen is also available.
How many sessions can I attend each week?
Due to the high demand for places, families are only able to attend one session each week. Families must only attend the session they are enrolled in.
What happens if I cannot attend for any reason?
If you are going to be away on an extended absence, please let your Group Leader or the Enrolment Officer know. It is a condition of enrolment in playgroup that you attend 50% of the sessions held each term.
What happens if I have more than one child?
Members who join playgroup join as a family. The fees are the same regardless of the number of children you have - ie $37 per term per family. Families attend one session per week as a family. We attempt to place children in age-appropriate groups. In practice, this is usually done using the age of the oldest child in the family as a guide. When the oldest child moves to kindergarten or school and is no longer attending playgroup, the rest of the family still hold their place in that particular playgroup session. If at anytime a member feels the group is not age-appropriate for their child/ren they should contact us via Email to discuss their situation.
